slow it down i'm sick of racing. it's mindless and unnecessary. why do we race around? to save five minutes? to save two? i remember brae told me about a friend of hers: he always walked slowly where ever he went. even when he was late. i thought this was a novel idea. when your feet start rushing so does your head. going 67 miles an hour doesn't get me there a whole lot quicker than 60 does. rushing around the house so i can leave gets me hot and frustrated and gets me to work two minutes faster and i've forgotten something. so i've started looking at Speed Limit signs as a chance to chill out. While the world races by at killer speed on their race track, i see the speed limit sign and stick in that zone; turn my calm music on, consider the billboards and lives of people who live on the edge of highways and the corner gas stations and stretching, glowing cornfields and suddenly i'm a notch above everything. i can breathe and think and appreciate up there. slow it down people. time's rushing forward anyway.

celebrate the grass!

So. Was Brae referring to Vincent and Lowen as her friend who walked 'slowly where ever'? If that is the case, I disagree, it's not a 'novel idea'. :). I love them both but you know they cause us to be tardy often...and that makes me 'hot and frustrated'.

Other than that: I am there with you. It's Saturday, Already. Time flies. PS 46:10-'Be Still and know...' my favorite verse.

haha..no, wasn't vincent. carl cadwell. but vincent does walk slow as well now i think about it. and i'm seeing how that could be not so great all the time..

okay, the idea of walking slowly is, in itself, a novel idea. but! i have to admit that the "even if you're late" part doesn't hit me as so very novel. of course, it depends on what you're late for... if it doesn't inconvenience other people, no big deal. but if it does, i don't like it a bit. i find it quite rude.

i say,
leave early! then you can go as slow as you'd like and enjoy every billboard and sing along with every note of any calming music you'd like. and maybe even stop for a milkshake, if you felt so compelled.

i'm all about leaving early.
knocks out the need to rush.

anyway, all that rambling was about lateness. i'm totally with you on slowing down & appreciating the little things in everyday life. :)

reasons to drive the speed limit:

1. better gas mileage
2. easier on your engine
3. safer
4. no speeding tickets
5. (therefore)cheaper insurance
6. develops patience
7. develops self-control
8. develops discipline
9. considerate of others
10. pleasing to god
11. speeding is a sin(romans 13:1)

(the last two reasons trump all the others)
