i just watched the most amazing movie called Freedom Writers. have you seen it? it's been so long since a movie has really pulled me in and made the rest of the world shut up for two hours. i was totally taken in and inspired..as cliche as that sounds. sometimes i get so fed up with all the weight the world puts on accomplishments, success, degrees, titles etc. suddenly life is a big rat race, a big competition..a big show and tell; "this is what i have that you don't." that all has it place--in some lesser degree--but we forget, in the midst of all that, the most basic human need. people need love! they need someone to stop and see them; to dig into the depth that all human beings have. someone to approach all the heartbreak and insecurity and still love and show respect. what is life if all we do is get to that top step above everyone else and then die? we need to be in and among eachother; looking at life through others perspectives not just through our narrow, self-centered view of things. i'm saying all this not out of judgment--well maybe--but only judgment on myself. i know this is true and yet i'm not loving and encouraging when i need to be. i just think it's beautiful when someone stops just saying all this and actually does it! the movie i watched tonight was a true story; this woman taught her students by aggressively loving them; students whose lives were full of confused hate and senseless violence. she looked them in the eye and told them she cared and that's all they needed to pour out their hearts and pull their lives together. i just want the courage to love people true.

Watched it today (FW, not whatever other movie you guys started talking about) and cried 6 times throughout. Great movie. Sorry, I don't even know what netflix is, but if it means I have to watch the movie on my computer screen, i'm not interested.

netflix isn't watching movies from the computer screen (although i think that's now an option). it's ordering movies from an online movie rental place. you get three a month for $18..anytime you send it back they'll send you the next one on your queue. it's really a good system. anyway that's netflix. any questions? just ask my dad..or go to the site..!
it's not 3 a month... it's 3 at a time. you can get as many as you want a month.
Maria watched it the other night too. She's reading Elie Wiesel's NIGHT at school and so she connected with the Holocaust parts and even spoke with her teacher about it. Dean and Eric watched it last night (Maria for the second time). Good recommendation, Kyriedyrie.

i know..i love how she presented the holocaust to them in the way she did and then let them see the absolute horror of it.

Well actually i rented it the other day lol. It was goood !! I cried alot and i love how it talked about the holocaust i read the diary of anne frank when i was younger!
